The presentation of the movie "Monster House" begins at dark at the Pratt Park Amphitheater next to the Stanley-Jensen Stadium.

Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets to Pratt Park and enjoy this FREE movie under the stars.

"Monster House" will be shown on a huge inflatable movie screen provided by Outdoor Entertainment Solutions.

What is the move about?
"Monster House" is a family-friendly animation about three kids who discover that the house across the street is alive. They try to convince the babysitter, the police, and some weirdo named Skull. To unravel the mystery of the house, they have to go inside.

How much does the movie cost?
Nothing! Admission is FREE, so bring the entire family!

City of Prattville to Hold Worldwide Day of Play Event

For the second year, the City of Prattville is joining Nickelodeon, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, and the National Park Foundation in celebrating the Worldwide Day of Play event.

Mayor Bill Gillespie has issued a proclamation recognizing October 6, 2012 as the Worldwide Day of Play here in Prattville, Alabama. This year, in addition to the proclamation, we will be holding a fun event for the children of Prattville at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill.

The City of Prattville is excited to host a free Halloween themed movie under the stars on Saturday, October 27th and the annual downtown Candywalk event on Tuesday, October 30th.


The Halloween themed movie under the Stars will be held at the Pratt Park Amphitheatre (next to Stanley Jensen Stadium) on Saturday, October 27th. “Monster House” will be shown on a huge inflatable movie screen and will begin at dark. Admission is free to the public. “Monster House” is a family-friendly animation about three kids who discover that the house across the street is alive. They try to convince the babysitter, the police, and some weirdo named Skull. To unravel the mystery of the house, they have to go inside. Coolers and food welcome, but please no alcoholic beverages.

Filmgoers in Montgomery Alabama will unite with audiences in over 300 cities spanning six continents to view and judge the work of the  next generation, of filmmakers from around the world when the 15th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival screens at The Capri Theatre in Montgomery on Friday, September 28 at 7:00pm
Out of 520 entries received from 49 countries around the world, MANHATTAN SHORT selected 10 short films as finalists. Each film is 18 minutes or under in length. Countries represented this year include Norway, The Netherlands, Russia, England, Ireland, Peru, France, Romania, Spain and the USA in what festival organizers describe as the "United Nations of Film Festivals."
These short films will not only entertain a global audience but will be judged by them as well. Filmgoers will be handed a voting card upon entry and asked to vote for the one film they feel should win.

City to Participate in 2012 “Back to School” Sales Tax Holiday

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. (CST) on Friday, August 3rd, 2012, and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday August 5th, 2012, Alabama will hold its seventh annual sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing free of sales or use tax.

On May 15, 2012, the Prattville City Council passed an ordinance exempting certain "covered items" from the Municipal Sales and Use Tax on the weekend noted above.

APEC set to host inaugural state-wide conference concerning children with disabilities

Alabama Parent Education Center’s PTI project is hosting a statewide conference for families of children with disabilities, educators, and professionals working with families.  Improving Outcomes for Children With Disabilities Parents and Teachers Together is set for June 15th.  Registration is at 7:30 a.m.  Sessions are from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Conference sessions are designed to give participants increased knowledge and understanding of:
1. Alabama’s Special Education System and Services
2. Standards Based Education and the New Common Core Standards
