After much hard work, a successful grant application, and much dedication, Mayor Bill Gillespie and the Autauga Creek Improvement Committee (ACIC) are pleased to announce that they will hold a ribbon cutting at the new kiosk that has been placed on the Creekwalk (behind City Hall) for the Autauga Creek Canoe Trail.
“As a committee, we’re excited to bring this resource back to the citizens of Prattville and we encourage everyone to get out and use it,” said Iris Korthauer, ACIC President.
“I had high hopes when I pulled this committee together, but never, in my wildest imagination, could I have foreseen the amount of work, dedication and perseverance exhibited by ACIC,” stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. “They haven’t just cleaned up the creek, made it traversable again, but not only have they put Prattville back on the map again, they’ve also become a non-profit, established the Autauga Creek Canoe Trail as part of the Alabama Scenic River Trail, and given this resource back to our citizens as a source of fun, exercise, and family-friendly activity. I couldn’t be more proud or more thankful. This accomplishment is another example of how we’re making Prattville better, one project at a time.”
