Glynwood Baptist Church hosts The Harvest Run 5-K Run For Missions on Saturday, November 10, 2012 | Events
October, 2012—Prattville, Alabama. Glynwood Baptist Church is hosting its annual 5K Run/Walk and 1 mile Fun Run on November 10, 2012. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. and the race at 7:30 a.m. at the Prattville East YMCA on McQueen Smith Road. The race course is certified.
The church ran a contest before last year’s race to come up with a new name for the race. The Harvest Run for Missions was the winner and entered by Randal Taylor.
Glynwood Baptist Church works hard to stay in touch with the community and looks for ways that church members can help those in need. By contacting organizations in our community, we find those who need help. Help may be in the form of making minor home repairs, building wheelchair ramps, painting, lawn care and other random acts of kindness. Work is limited to those people who are not able financially or physically to help themselves.
The church also provides mission trip opportunities for its members in the U.S. and abroad.
The purpose of the race is to provide the funds to purchase paint, lumber, and other building supplies plus gasoline for lawnmowers and other lawn care machinery for local ministry projects. It will also provide necessary supplies for other mission trips. Church members volunteer their service and time.
The race will meander through the neighborhood adjacent to the YMCA. Awards will be given to the overall male and female winner and to the top three male and female winners in each age category. Ribbons will be given to each participant in the one-mile fun run.
