City of Prattville to Hold Worldwide Day of Play Event | Events
For the second year, the City of Prattville is joining Nickelodeon, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, and the National Park Foundation in celebrating the Worldwide Day of Play event.
Mayor Bill Gillespie has issued a proclamation recognizing October 6, 2012 as the Worldwide Day of Play here in Prattville, Alabama. This year, in addition to the proclamation, we will be holding a fun event for the children of Prattville at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill.
“Coming off the Navistar LPGA Classic, I wanted to work with RTJ to hold an event centered around the game of golf,” said Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. “In Prattville, football is king, followed by baseball and soccer. This event will provide another opportunity for our kids to be exposed to golf, which tends to be my choice when it comes to outdoor exercise.”
The City of Prattville invites all children who want to play to join Mayor Gillespie at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th, at the Clubhouse steps. Golf clubs will be provided to those who need them at the driving range tee located furthest from the Clubhouse (in order to promote physical activity) as the Mayor teaches our youth about chipping and striking the ball.
Please sign up through the City website (Residents, Worldwide Day of Play) so that we’ll know how many children are participating and what size clubs they will need.
Mayor Gillespie and the City of Prattville want to thank RTJ Capitol Hill Director of Golf Mike Beverly for joining us in organizing and making it possible for us to hold this event at the course.
