Woman sentenced for June 2011 death on U.S. 31

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - A Lowndesboro woman has been sentenced following a guilty plea to criminally negligent homicide in the June 2011 death of a Prattville man.

Alabama State Troopers responded to U.S. 31 late in the evening on June 18, 2011.

Loren Hardy, 19, of Lowndesboro was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring when she collided with a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Lance Ray Martin Jr., 25, of Prattville. 

Martin was transported to Prattville Baptist where he died as a result of his injuries.

Hardy pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide for her role in the accident. She was sentenced by an Autauga County Judge on Wednesday to serve 60 days in the county jail dollowed by 36 months supervised probation. Hardy was also ordered to pay nearly $17,000 in restitution.

AUTAUGA COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - The deaths of a father and daughter found Thursday in Autauga County have been ruled as a murder-suicide.

The bodies of 43-year-old Edward Grady Kelley and his 18-year-old daughter Allison Marie Kelley were found shot to death inside a home off of Autauga County Road 10 on Thursday, June 14.

Prattville Police responded to the scene. Investigators believe the father and daughter got into an argument which caused the father to shoot his daughter before turning the gun on himself. They were last seen alive on Wednesday, June 13 around 9:30 p.m. Allison's boyfriend located the bodies the next day.

Investigators say there were no notes left behind and aren't sure what caused the father and daughter to argue.

ELMORE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - The sister of accused murderer Josh Caspari has been arrested and charged for trying to help get her brother out of jail.

According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin, Jessica Caspari was arrested Tuesday and charged with promoting prison contraband and facilitating escape from a detention center.

Jessica Caspari allegedly paid an inmate at the Elmore County Jail $500 to smuggle pieces of a hacksaw blade to her brother, Josh Caspari, who is being held in connection with the February murder of Anna Cardwell.

Three plead guilty in two separate ID fraud schemes

Three defendants in separate cases involving the use of stolen identities to file fraudulent tax returns have pleaded guilty in the Middle District of Alabama, the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced today.

Crystal Sayles, of Montgomery County, Ala., pleaded guilty today to one count each of filing false claims, access device fraud, and aggravated identity theft. She also agreed to the forfeiture of a Mercedes Benz as part of her plea agreement. Sayles was indicted on 36 different counts on Jan. 19, 2012. According to her plea agreement, between January 2010 and July 2011, Sayles and others were involved with the filing of at least 482 fraudulent tax returns using stolen identities. These returns sought at least $2,181,879 in tax refunds. All of the returns had been filed through a tax preparation business called Simmons Financial, which Sayles opened in the name of another individual in order to conceal her own involvement.

Former pastor pleads guilty in child porn case

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Clyde David Myers, a former pastor at Prattville Community Church, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of possession of obscene matter.

Myers was arrested in September 2011 after the materials were found on his home computer and on a computer in the church's office.

He was sentenced at the Autauga County Courthouse to 120 months in jail for each count  of possession of obscene matter. The sentence will be served consecutively, meaning Myers will spend a total of 20 years in jail. 

Myers will also have to register as a sex offender.

The former pastor of Prattville Community Church was arrested last year after obscene materials were found on his home computer and on a computer in the church office.

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - During the early hours of the morning, SWAT team members from a number of local, state and federal agencies executed 14 federal search warrants in Central Alabama - seven in Elmore County, two in Autauga county and five in Montgomery County.

Individuals from Elmore, Autauga and Montgomery Counties will face criminal charges as a result of the investigation.

The operation was the second phase of an investigation which involved the identification of suspected members of the "BLOODS" street gang who were allegedly operating a drug distribution organization in Elmore County, just outside of Wetumpka.

Authorities say cooperation of many local, state and federal agencies led to the successful identifications in a drug trafficking organization responsible for supplying drug dealers throughout Central Alabama.
