Video: Prattville Police need to identify burglary suspect

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Prattville Police and Central Alabama CrimeStoppers are asking for help to identify the individual seen in this video.

Police say on Saturday, March 9, 2013, Prattville had several vehicles burglarized.  One of the victims captured video of a subject breaking into their vehicle.

Prattville Police would like very much to identify this individual.  Identifying this subject may clear up numerous vehicle break-in cases.

Authorities warn that this suspect may be armed and dangerous - you can see he has a gun on his person in the included footage.

If you know the identity or whereabouts of this individual, you are asked to contact your local law enforcement agency or call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.

Alabama Department of Labor Obtaining Convictions for Unemployment Compensation Fraud

MONTGOMERY – Alabama Department of Labor Commissioner Tom Surtees announced today that the Department has successfully prosecuted several Alabamians for unemployment compensation fraud. The following individuals were charged with violating the Alabama Unemployment Compensation Law by making false statements in claims for benefits:

- Ernest Wade, Jr., of Alabaster, was tried in Shelby County District Court on March 6, 2013. An investigation by Labor’s Benefit Payment Control Section determined that Wade received a total of $1,658 in benefits to which he was not entitled.
Wade pled guilty and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, which was suspended for two years, and 24 months of unsupervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a $100 fine, court costs and restitution in the amount of benefits received illegally.

Police: Woman stabbed in the back at Prattville gas station

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Prattville police are investigating the Monday evening stabbing of a woman at an area gas station.

Officers responded to the Jet Pep gas station on East Main Street around 9:55 p.m. where the victim reported that a male stabbed her several times in the back as she walked to her vehicle.

The suspect then fled down Main Street.

Witnesses described the suspect to officers, and the manager of the gas station said the suspect lived at a nearby apartment complex.

Officers went to the apartment complex and spoke with a resident who identified the apartment of Christopher Moses. Moses answered the door, and when asked where the knife he used in the stabbing was located, he gave officers the information. An officer then pulled the knife from a nearby garbage can.

Moses was taken to the Prattville Police Department where officers say he admitted to stabbing the woman. No reason for the stabbing was given.

Thompson to a prison term of 60 months based on his conviction for wire fraud arising out of his theft of approximately $6.2 million in checks payable to the federal government, U.S. Attorney George L.

Prattville Police arrest different police impersonator at Target store

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Prattville Police say they've arrested a Millbrook man for impersonating a police officer at a local retail store.

But, this suspect is not believed to be the man making traffic stops in a white Crown Victoria.

Police have arrested 42-year-old Douglas Sterling Newton of Millbroook for impersonating a police officer at the Prattville Target location.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, however, they do not believe Newton is the same man who is pulling people over while driving a white Crown Victoria.

Newton has been transported to the Elmore County Jail.
